Dreaming in Colors

Colors in dreams are sometimes so vivid and clear that they can actually make colors in real life seem pale and faded. Certain doctors think they have a calming and therapeutical effect and they use them to cure and improve certain conditions and diseases.

Some people have witnessed seeing cascades or rivers of colors, some of them far beyond the normal spectre of light. As many other things in dreams, color is turned into an absolute value. When it becomes the focus of the dream, it is taken to extremes, transposing the dreamer into a completely new and unexpected universe.

This effect can be artificially induced by certain drugs, generically classified as hallucinogens. Mescaline and LSD are well known for provoking such visual hallucinations. Extremely vivid and colorful dreams can also be the side effect of certain antidepressants or strong pain killers
